Graduation is something that every high school student looks forward to. Even though it’s nerve wracking on whether you're going to be eligible to walk or not, I think that I’m going to pass my classes just in time. I think the only thing that has me worried is, that I don’t know yet if I’m ready to enter through the door of adulthood. Once I graduate I’m going to have be responsible to take care of myself financially. I’m not going to be able to have my mom buy me what I need. For example, like if I need clothes or furniture, I’m going to have to get a job and pay for it myself.
Furthermore, post-graduation is something that I am already making preparations for. One of those things is I already have a location where I will get hired working part time as a salesperson. It’s not a place where I will be receiving a huge pay check, but it’s somewhere where I can gain experience in marketing which for me counts even more. I’ve also already began my search for apartments nearby Fresno State where I can live in. I already found a couple of apartments that met the expectations I set. The standards I have set are that the apartments has to obviously be nearby Fresno State and be nice enough for family to say I’ve settled down somewhere nice.
Moreover, a graduation requirement that I still haven’t met are the twenty community service hours we need to graduate. Currently I only have sixteen hours completed out of the twenty hours required. I’m not really stressing over the hours because I know that I can just stay an hour everyday for a week after school and clean up the Ag farm. By cleaning up I mean take out weeds and rake up any trash, it might sound difficult to many, but I used to live on a ranch so I already have experience doing this job.
Something that I am now looking forward to are my post-graduation plans. One of those plans is moving into my own apartment in Fresno and start living on my own. Of course I’m not going to be able to support myself financially, so a good friend of mine is moving in with me. Not only will it be easier for both of us financially, but also on the mental support we will have for each other. For example, we will make sure both of us focus on school despite of all the distractions that college throws at us.
Looking back to all my four high school years, I think that I’m most grateful for the support I’ve had, not only from my family but also from my friends. Both of them have always been there when I needed them the most. My friends have been there when I when I went through hard times dealing with some family losses. My family has just always been there for me when I needed some moral support dealing with stress over grades or school in general.
