The beginning of my senior year has been great so far, I have friends in all my classes that I am able to talk with. Plus some of the classes I am taking are slightly easy, the only setback is that since I chose to be on the university track, I had to choose trigonometry and physics. Even though they are tough courses and many don’t finish them, I am looking to be challenged on my mental ability and strength. Other than those classes, my other ones are all electives so they should flow smoothly throughout the year.
Currently I am on pace to graduate because the year has just begun, but I have a bad habit of procrastinating on tasks, so I usually fall behind throughout the year. Somehow though, I always end up finding a way to passing all my classes and receiving credit for them. So that's something I’m going to work on this year because I don’t want to be stressing out the last few months before graduation to see if I am going to be eligible to attend the ceremony.
Well these past couple of days I’ve been working on my first journal because that’s what I want to complete first. Then I’m planning on working on the autobiographical essay because in that assignment I just have to write about myself and that doesn’t seem to difficult. Something I am looking forward to from my senior project is the senior exit interview. This is something I can’t wait to begin because I will be able to share my high school experience and my life story on a powerpoint.
What I am most looking forward to this year is experiencing my last year of high school with people I can enjoy it with, and seeing myself walk on that stage and receive my diploma. Many teachers are currently doubting me because of how I like to procrastinate on my work. They think I’m not going to be able to catch up and be on pace, but I’ve been doing this trick for 3 years so I think I’ll be fine.
I have set many goals for my myself this year, but I think the most important one is receiving my diploma; which is probably every seniors’ goal. There’s that very special moment when you’re receiving your diploma, and you look up into the bleachers and see the smile and happiness on your parents face. I think that is what’s motivating me to push myself harder and get through the school year because whenever I see the happiness on my mom’s face, that’s something I will never forget.
Plus next year I will be starting a new chapter of my life. Living on my own is something that’s going to take a huge responsibility to do because I’m the type of person who likes to live life to the fullest and just have crazy fun. Therefore living on my own and knowing the risks of not going to class and turning in assignments on time is something that I’m going to have to manage. For example, one of the consequences is getting put on academic probation, or even worse I’ll get kicked out of college. So a problem that surfaced in my mind is how I’m going to be able to manage both things at the same time. One way I’ve been thinking about overcoming this pressure is, whenever I have to choose whether to attend an awesome party or stay home and do homework, to just think about how disappointed my mom were to get kicked out.
